Au Pair in the USA

What are the benefits we offer?

: Room and board in a private bedroom with a pre-screened host family
You will live with a carefully screened Host Family who will treat you as a family member, not as domestic help. You will be given a private room and board.
: Sponsorship of a legal 12-month J-1 visa
This 12 month program is administered by our strategic sponsors authorized by the U.S. Department of State. It means you will be a legal au pair in the USA.
: Round-trip airfare to and from the United States
Free return flight to the United States from many cities will be arranged by IAPO. Please click here for the list of free departure cities.
: Au Pair Orientation & Training in the USA
Upon arriving in the U.S. to spend a year with your new host family, you will first attend an Orientation and Training Program for four days. During this program, you will meet other au pairs in the region and learn safety, first aid and child development. Acquiring these new skills will give you confidence when settling-in with your new family. You will also receive an Au Pair Handbook which details the lessons so you can refer to it during your year in America. You will have 32 hours of instruction and free time to visit the region. All of your meals are included.
: Pocket money of $139.05 per week
Your host family will pay you $139.05 per week as pocket money.
: A 24 hour number to call in case of an emergency
In case of emergency, you will have access to a toll free telephone number. The telephone is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can get an immediate help and advice from local community counsellors of our sponsored partners.
: Health and accident insurance
You will be covered with a basic health and accident insurance plan. Please contact your interviewer if you are interested in information about civil liability or a more comprehensive health plan.
: Introductions to other au pairs in the area and monthly meetings with your local community counselor
During the year, your community counselor will keep close contact with you to counsel you during your transition or smooth over any misunderstandings between you and your host family. And you will attend monthly meetings and fun outings with other au pairs in your area so you can make friends right away.
: Maximum work of 45 hours per week/10 hours per day
Your childcare duties will take up no more than 5½ days and no more than 10 hours per day.
: $500 stipend to be used for schooling
Opportunities to study at a local educational institution are available with a variety of curriculum choices.
