New Countries for Au Pair Program
The UK Home office announced that young people from the
following countries can work in the UK as an aupair for up
to 2 years: Australia, Canada, Japan and New Zealand as well
as all EU countries.

The End of the Au Pair Visa in the UK
UK Government has decided to discontinue awarding au pair
visas after the end of November 2008. This means that non-EU
foreign students will not be able to apply for an au pair
visa after November 27th 2008. However, young people who
have TIER 5 Youth Mobility Visa can still be au pairs in the
UK for up to 2 years.

The Au Pair Pocket Money Increases
US Department of State announced that pocket money for the Au
Pairs in the US will increase to US$ 176.85.

2004
The Au Pair Pilot Extension Program
The aupair extension program will run as a pilot for one year
beginning February 5, 2004 through February 4, 2005. The last
extensions to be approved through this pilot program will
conclude on February 3, 2006.
On approval from the Office of Designation and Exchange
Coordination, Department of State, sponsors of an aupair
Exchange Program may issue a Form DS-2019 to those au pairs
intending to extend their participation in this program for an
additional six, nine, or twelve months. If the pilot program
is deemed successful on conclusion of the pilot year, the
Department of State will amend the Exchange Visitor Program
regulations to make it permanent.

Pocket Money increased to
£ 55.00
Home office announced from their web site that they now
recommend £ 55.00
per week pocket money for the aupairs. It was
£ 45.00 previously.
